Last week saw Cheshunt SC compete in the 3rd and final round of this years Arena League. The team travelled to Braintree and were fighting for 8th – 14th place in division 2 against Halstead, Stevenage, Linslade Crusaders, Harrow, Rochford & District and Enfield Swim Squad.
The team got off to a steady start and were in 4th place after the 1st 10 events. As the individual races unfolded Cheshunt went from strength to strength with the following swimmers all winning their races; Millie Clark, Zane Batt, Tegan Wollaston, Sienna Treglohan, Callum Wollaston, Dayna Shepperson, Chloe Berko-Boateng, Emily Lush & Emily South.
There were also some close finishes to the final set of relays with Cheshunt coming first in 4 out of the 8 races which set them up to finish the gala in 2nd place and 9th overall in the league of 21 teams.
Out of the water Tegan Wollaston has been selected to attend a weekend at Loughborough University with the Youth Sports Trust as a coach. She is one of 350 young athletes from a variety of sports including cycling, gymnastics, tennis, volleyball and baseball who will spend the weekend in a variety of workshops and activities aimed at inspiring the next generation of athletes, coaches and officials.
Also congratulations go to Taylor Coe who has been selected as part of the East Region Open Water squad. Taylor’s dedication and hard work in training has not only seen him go from strength to strength in the water but had also gained him recognition as a prospect for the future.
