After two previous rounds, Cheshunt had comfortably secured their place in the final of the Hertfordshire Major League at Hitchin on Saturday. We were seeded 4th and in spite of missing a few key swimmers, the team pulled together and there were some excellent performances. The swim of the evening came from Daniel Lush who swam a new PB for the 100 freestyle in 1.06.75. There were also new PBs from Tegan Wollaston and Wallace West in the 100 butterfly, Emily South in the 100 Breaststroke, James Duke Smith and Lucy Harbron in the 100 Backstroke and Lewis Pope and Maisie Griffin in the 50 Butterfly. The final thrilling squadron race saw Tring taking an early lead but Cheshunt gradually pulled them back and with 2 legs to go, we were neck and neck with Hertsmere Flyers who went on to narrowly win the race, with Cheshunt in a clear 2nd place.
The final results of this gala saw us take 4th place but because of results in the previous rounds, we ended up in 3rd overall in the league, just missing out on promotion to the 1st division.
Well done to everyone who has taken part!!! Results HERE.
