The weekend saw Cheshunt Swimming Club putting out strong teams in both the Peanuts and Didy Leauge second rounds. It started with the Peanuts on Saturday night. Cheshunt always knew it was going to be a tough fight having been promoted from the second division last season, but the team went out with confidence and determination.
Peanuts League Rd 2There were excellent swims and second places from Spencer Mills (10) U/11 25m freestyle (16.46), Callum Wollaston (11) U/12 50m freestyle & butterfly, Emily South (12) U/13 50m freestyle (31.08), Daniel Lush U/13 50m freestyle (30.20) & 50m breaststroke (39.14), Alara Norton (11) U/12 50m breaststroke (42.41) & Emily Lush (10) U/11 25m freestyle (15.97). Emily also got our only first place of the night beating off the competition in the U/11 25m backstroke (19.26).
There were also good swims and 3rd places for Courtney Burke (11) U/12 backstroke (39.76) & Butterfly (39.38), Millie Clark 9 years 25m freestyle (18.24) & Ela Norton 9 years 25m breaststroke (26.53).
Sunday saw the team travel to Braintree Swimming Centre for the second round of the Didy League.
Having finished 4th in the last round, the squad were confident of a similar result even though they we’re up against some tough competition. Diddy League Rd 2.
The gala saw second places for Emily Lush (10) U/11 Backstroke (40.24) & Freestyle (35.69), Callum Wollaston (11) U/12 Butterfly (38.09), Emily South U/13 (31.13) & Alara Norton U/12 50m breaststroke (42.22) as well as the girls U/11 4×25 freestyle t
eam of Emily Lush, Millie Clark, Lauren Lee & Courtney Abrahams & girls U/12 4×25 team of Courtney Burke, Holly Atkins, Alara Norton & Neave Brookman.
3rd places Millie Clark 9 years freestyle (18.41) Courtney Abrahams (10) U/11 breaststroke (47.54), Zane Batt (10) U/11 backstroke (43.89) as wells as the boys 9 year old 4×25 freestyle team of Taylor Coe, Jack Pym, Aaron Pickard & Ben Brookman.
Heading into the third and final round, Assistant Head Coach Richard Walker said “It’s been a tough season for our Junior Squads, But they have all swum with dedication and determination. They really have shown that when you train hard, it really does pay off”. The final round for the Peanuts League is on the 15th June, and they Didy League is on the 30th Jun
