Cheshunt Swimming Club kicked off the new season of the Peanuts league at the weekend. No less than 11 youngsters, Kye Rozasty, George Popa, Anastasios Karameros, Ben Brookman, Bradley Hewitt, Jack Pym, Taylor Coe, Millie Clark, Rosie Batt, Ella Norton and Aimee Williams made their debut for the club competing for the very first time. Other star performers of the night were Callum Wollaston (11) who came 2nd in the U12 50m Freestyle (32.64) and 2nd in U12 50m Fly (36.70), Emily South (12) came 2nd in U13 50m Freestyle (31.99).
Daniel Lush also came 2nd in U13 50m Freestyle (30.55). Racing ahead in the U11 25m Backstroke was Emily Lush (10) coming 1st, with a time of 18.85 and Alara Norton (11) 1st in U12 50m Breaststroke with a time of 44.10. This followed Alara’s incredible swimming day at the Redbridge open meet where she gained her first ever Regional Qualifying Time storming into 1st place in the 10-11 years 100 Breast, with a time of 1.29.42 striking Gold. Alara followed this the next day coming 3rd in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 3.19.24. Cheshunt’s success story did not end here, Tegan Wollaston took Bronze in 12-13 400 IM (5.39.76), 3rd in 50m Freestyle, 2nd in 100 Backstroke (1.16.63) and 1st in 200 Backstroke (2.37.16). Not to be outdone by his sister Callum Wollaston came 2nd in 10-11 years 100 Fly (1.20.14), 1st in 100 Backstroke (1.19.59), 1st in 100 Freestyle (1.09.61). Continuing Cheshunt’s medal winning streak were Millie Donovan who took 3rd in the 14 years 200 Fly (2.45.23) and 2nd in 100 Freestyle (1.03.01), Lewis Pope came 3rd in 12-13 years 200 Freestyle (2.13.43), 2nd in 100 Freestyle (1.01.57), 2nd in 200 Fly (2.31.64). Once again a fantastic weekend for Cheshunt swimmers!
